■ ‘Tis the season of graduations, thankfully happening again outdoors after one of the most difficult academic years in decades. Soulful songstress Gavin Turek recently paid a virtual visit to her alma mater, Scripps College of the Claremont Colleges, to open their Reunion Weekend. After performing stripped down versions of her singles “2AM,” “Distance,” new single “Slide” and a brand new song, “Illusions” (from her upcoming debut solo album “Madame Gold”) the Class of 2009 grad reflects upon her formative years at the college and, with Scripps Vice President and Secretary of the Board of Trustees Denise Nelson Nash (Scripps Class of ’76 and the singer-songwriter’s aunt), shares wisdom gained after launching into her music career.

■ L.A.-via-Murrieta Disney actress Olivia Rodrigo, who signed with both Interscope and Geffen Records last year, also made an appearance on Saturday Night Live last night. The chart-blasting artist– who is of Filipino, German and Irish descent– performed her latest single, the emo-pop-rockin’ “Good 4 U,” backed by a band including local indie rocker Liv Slingerland (who nabs the guitar solo). Rodrigo’s debut album, “Sour,” releases this Friday via Geffen Records.
