In a couple of weeks, the Toronto duo Ducks Ltd will release their full-length debut Modern Fiction. The band — known as Ducks Unlimited, back in the days before duck limitations — has a woozy, pretty old-school jangle-pop style that sounds ripped straight from an ’80s college-radio broadcast. We’ve already heard the early singles “18 Cigarettes” and “How Lonely Are You?” Today, the band has shared another one.

Ducks Ltd., the Toronto jangle-pop band formerly known as Ducks Unlimited, have been on our radar since their excellent 2019 debut EP Get Bleak. Carpark re-released an expanded version of Get Bleak earlier this year, and now Ducks duo Tom McGreevy and Evan Lewis are getting ready to hit us with their official debut album Modern Fiction. Lead single “18 Cigarettes” made it onto our 5 Best Songs Of The Week list when it came out last month, and today, they’re sharing another new track called “How Lonely Are You?” featuring harmonies from their Carpark labelmates the Beths.

Chicago duo Ratboys are hosting a 25-hour Halloween telethon to raise money for the Equal Justice Initiative and Girls Rock! Chicago. Other artists including Bartees Strange, Chris Farren, the Beths, Adult Mom, Laura Stevenson, Ellis, Wild Pink, Disq, and Anjimile will also appear, and Illuminati Hotties’ Sarah Tudzin is guest judging a costume contest.
