On Saturday night, Thundercat played Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles and brought out a whole crew in support: Haim, Flying Lotus, Kamasi Washington, Steve Lacy, Louis Cole, and Ty Dolla $ign. Oh, and Este Haim twerked on Thundercat and then fell down. Relatable!

Kaytranada released his last album, the collab-heavy Bubba, two years ago, and it ended up garnering him his first Grammys for both Best Dance/Electronic Album and Best Dance Recording. Today, the producer is releasing a new EP called Intimidated, on which he teams up with three different artists: H.E.R on the title track, Thundercat on “Be Careful,” and Mach-Hommy on”$PayForHaiti.” Check it out below.

Astral-plane bass wizard Thundercat and future Red Hot Chili Peppers opening act Thundercat released his nerded-out seduction anthem “Dragonball Durag” way back in February of 2020, and conditions are only now returning to the point where he gets to go out and play that song in front of people. Last night, that’s what he did. Thundercat was the musical guest on Stephen Colbert’s Late Show. While Thundercat’s music has gone in a lot of different directions over the years, it’s based in jazz. For last night’s performance, he joined forces with another young jazz master, the Oscar-winning Late Show bandleader Jon Batiste.

Sky Blue Sky, Wilco’s festival/”destination concert experience” at the all-inclusive Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya resort in Mexico, is returning for its second edition in January 2022. “The inaugural Sky Blue Sky shattered our expectations and we can’t wait to rekindle that experience with you all again,” Jeff Tweedy says in a statement.

Back in 2018, Netflix announced a new show anime show called Yasuke, created by LeSean Thomas (of The Boondocks, Legend Of Korra, and other projects), and inspired by the real-life story of an African samurai in 16th century Japan. From the start, we knew LaKeith Stanfield would voice Yasuke and that Flying Lotus would score the series. Earlier this month we got to see a trailer, and now — with Yasuke‘s premiere slated for next week — we get to hear some music.

Ace Hashimoto is the musical persona of Chicago-born singer, rapper, and producer Brandun DeShay, formed when he moved to Tokyo in 2016. DeShay has produced for people like Chance The Rapper, SZA, Mac Miller, Joey Bada$$, and Danny Brown, and he’s finally getting ready to release his debut album as Ace Hashimoto. Now, he’s teamed up with Thundercat for a new song called “VAPORWAVES.”
