In a surprising turn of events, Malcolm Todd, the rising alt-pop star and brother of fellow artist Audrey Hobert, recently celebrated his first #1 track on Spotify with the catchy single “Earrings.” The song soared to the top of the Global Daily singles chart, racking up an impressive 4.165 million streams.

However, the joy was short-lived. A keen-eyed trader on Kalshi raised concerns about the authenticity of the streaming numbers, prompting Spotify to investigate. The streaming giant confirmed the suspicions and subsequently removed over 500,000 streams from the song, causing it to drop to #4 on the chart.

This incident has sparked discussions about the integrity of streaming platforms and the potential for manipulation in the music industry. As artists navigate this digital landscape, the focus remains on ensuring fair play and transparency.
