Tony Iommi Reveals Brian May’s Role on New Album

In an exciting revelation, Tony Iommi has shared insights into his upcoming solo album, From the Dark, set to drop on October 23. The legendary Black Sabbath guitarist explained why Queen’s Brian May is featured on the record while longtime collaborator Geezer Butler is absent.

Iommi expressed his desire to include Butler, but due to scheduling conflicts with Butler’s own album, he had to move forward without him. Instead, Iommi enlisted bassist Becky Baldwin, a talented musician from Birmingham, who he felt could capture the essence of Butler’s style.

Alongside Baldwin, drummer Karl Brazil also joins the project, having crossed paths with Iommi in a chance encounter. The album’s lineup is rounded out by vocalist Jorn Lande, whose history with Iommi dates back to a tribute for Ronnie James Dio.

Of course, the highlight for many fans is Brian May’s contribution on the track “Death Wake.” Iommi noted their close friendship, emphasizing how May’s unique sound adds a special touch to the album.
