The Black Crowes have taken a nostalgic trip down memory lane, celebrating the impact of their debut album, Shake Your Money Maker, which transformed them from a local band into MTV superstars. Frontman Chris Robinson recalls the early days filled with spontaneity and a carefree attitude. ‘We’d order eight pitchers of margaritas and by the time the gig started, we were out of our heads,’ he laughs.

Despite their initial lack of popularity, the band caught the attention of A&R man George Drakoulias, who discovered them while scouting for other acts. With no shows booked at the time, they managed to impress him during a gig in New York. This serendipitous encounter led to a fruitful collaboration that produced a record still loved by fans today.

Rich Robinson, the band’s guitarist, reflects on the recording process, emphasizing their youthful naivety and the challenges they faced in the studio. ‘We were kids, we had a few guitars, and we didn’t have a budget for food,’ he recalls. The album went on to sell over seven million copies, solidifying their place in rock history.

As they prepare for upcoming shows, including a stop in Nashville, the band continues to perform hits like ‘She Talks To Angels’ and ‘Jealous Again,’ proving that their music remains timeless.
