Jeff Gutt Discusses Future of Stone Temple Pilots and New Music

In a recent chat with Remzi “Jam Man” Yates, Jeff Gutt, the frontman of Stone Temple Pilots, opened up about the band’s creative process and his personal views on their future. Gutt, who has been with STP for nearly a decade, shared insights on performing live without featuring his own songs, noting that sometimes he prefers classics like “Crackerman” over the more vocally demanding tracks.

Gutt also reflected on how the music industry has changed, emphasizing that fans today have a different relationship with music compared to the past. He believes that while newer songs may struggle to become classics without ample live exposure, the band’s legacy remains strong.

When asked if he would be content if STP focused solely on touring their classic catalog without releasing new music, Gutt expressed his willingness to embrace that path. However, he hinted that the band is indeed discussing new material, stating, “I believe so” when asked about the possibility of a new album.

As for his own projects, Gutt revealed he is working on finishing a record with his band, We Are Not Machines, alongside Evanescence drummer Will Hunt. With a passion for songwriting, Gutt continues to create, ensuring that his musical journey remains vibrant and ongoing.
