The crash, which occurred during take-off from Columbia Metropolitan Airport in South Carolina, left Barker with severe injuries, including burns covering 65% of his body. He spent 11 weeks in the hospital, grappling with the emotional toll of losing his close friends.

Barker recounted a particularly dark moment in the hospital, stating, “There was no light at the end of the tunnel.” He expressed the depth of his pain, saying he felt like he was living in hell.
