In a recent interview, Geddy Lee opened up about the intense preparation that led him to not smile for over a year before Rush’s highly anticipated reunion tour. The legendary bassist and vocalist shared that his focus was solely on delivering the best performances possible for fans who had waited 11 years for this moment.

Lee explained that the pressure to meet expectations transformed his demeanor, as he dedicated countless hours to physical training and vocal coaching. He stated, “My day and my off days are not fun… I have to see my physio person. I have to do a good workout physically.” This commitment to excellence was driven by a desire not to let down the audience who paid good money to see them perform.

He also revealed that both he and guitarist Alex Lifeson felt a fear of not being able to deliver their best, a sentiment that resonated deeply with the band. Lee’s daughter even noted his absence of smiles, highlighting the seriousness with which he approached the tour. However, once the tour kicked off, Lee found joy again, as his daughter remarked on the return of his smile.

With new members Anika Nilles and Loren Gold joining the lineup, the band maintained a rigorous work ethic, ensuring they were all prepared for the demanding tour ahead. As they embark on this journey, fans can expect nothing short of a spectacular show from Rush.
