The ongoing feud between Alex Van Halen and Sammy Hagar has reignited, with Alex recently making some scathing remarks about his former bandmate. In an interview with the Brazilian magazine Roadie Crew, Alex shared his thoughts on the autobiographies of both Hagar and David Lee Roth.
While Alex found Roth’s book, Crazy From the Heart, to be an entertaining read that captures Roth’s unique humor, he had no kind words for Hagar’s 2011 memoir, Red: My Uncensored Life In Rock. Alex bluntly stated, “In my opinion, Sammy Hagar is a complete idiot,” making it clear that he has no interest in Hagar’s perspective.
The tension between the two has been brewing for years, particularly after Alex’s own autobiography, Brothers, was released in 2024. Hagar criticized the book for neglecting his contributions to Van Halen, while Alex accused Hagar of not honoring the band’s legacy during his Best of All World tour.
Despite Hagar’s attempts to mend fences, including inviting Alex to join him on tour, the rift remains. Hagar has expressed frustration over Alex’s silence, suggesting that he is keeping the Van Halen name alive by performing their music. However, with Alex’s latest comments, it seems this rock rivalry is far from over.
