Michael Sweet Discusses Oz Fox’s Absence on Stryper’s New Album

In a recent interview with George Dionne of KNAC.COM, Michael Sweet, the guitarist and vocalist of Stryper, shed light on why guitarist Oz Fox is not featured on the band’s upcoming album, Throne Of Thorns, set to release on September 25 via Frontiers Music Srl.

Sweet clarified that Oz’s absence is not related to his previous health issues, including brain surgery in 2024. Instead, it stems from Oz stopping his blood pressure medication, which led to significant health complications. During rehearsals, it became evident that Oz was struggling with his playing due to dangerously high blood pressure levels.

Realizing the situation, Sweet stepped in to play the guitar parts, despite being primarily focused on vocals at the time. He expressed his concerns about having to adapt to playing both parts, but he is optimistic about how the album will be received by fans.

As for live performances, Sweet mentioned that they plan to include a few tracks from the new album in their setlist, with Oz primarily handling rhythm guitar.
