Tony Iommi Reflects on Black Sabbath’s Final Show and Album

Tony Iommi, the legendary guitarist of Black Sabbath, recently opened up about his initial hesitations regarding the band’s final performance and the possibility of a new album. In an exclusive interview with Classic Rock, Iommi revealed that he was approached by producer Andrew Watt to record a final album featuring the original lineup. However, he expressed his concerns, stating, “I don’t think we should do it,” reflecting on the band’s previous work and the pressures of another release.

Additionally, Iommi admitted to having doubts about Black Sabbath’s reunion for last year’s historic Back To The Beginning show at Villa Park in Birmingham. With a lineup that included Metallica, Pantera, and Guns N’ Roses, Iommi initially suggested that the band should let others perform their songs and simply come out at the end to thank the fans. Ultimately, the charitable cause swayed his decision.
