Slipknot’s Jim Root Teases Bold New Direction for Upcoming Album

Slipknot guitarist Jim Root has shared exciting insights into the band’s forthcoming eighth studio album, hinting at a fresh and experimental approach. In a recent social media post, Root emphasized that fans should not expect a repeat of their iconic albums like ‘Iowa’ or their self-titled debut. Instead, he described the vibe of the new material as honest and reminiscent of their earlier recording days.

Root’s comments come as the band is deep into recording sessions, now under their newly established label, (sic)est Records. He noted that the focus is on avoiding repetition and creating something that feels authentic and raw. “We’re really experimenting with different approaches,” he stated, highlighting that this new direction might challenge some long-time fans.

With producer Matt Wallace at the helm, known for his work with Faith No More, the band aims to capture the essence of their early sound while steering clear of overproduction. The album is expected to be released in 2027, coinciding with a massive stadium tour featuring Bring Me The Horizon and Marilyn Manson.
