Poppy’s Band Performs Instrumental Set at Upheaval Festival

This past weekend, Poppy’s band took the stage at the annual Upheaval Festival in Grand Rapids, MI, but the singer herself was notably absent. Due to hazardous air quality conditions caused by smoke from wildfires in Southeastern Canada, Poppy was unable to perform.

As the air quality index soared above 350, Poppy made the difficult decision to sit out the show. Her bandmates, however, went on with an instrumental set, donning breathing masks to protect themselves from the poor air quality.

Poppy later addressed her fans via Instagram, expressing her disappointment and applauding those who attended despite the challenging conditions. She stated, “Due to ‘hazardous’ AQI reaching 350+ around our set time, I was unable to join my band on stage. I was unable to breathe in those conditions.”

While the festival continued without her, the support from fans and the band showcased the resilience of the rock community in the face of adversity.
