Daine is gearing up for the release of their highly anticipated debut album, In Endless Awe & Agony, later this year. However, the hyperpop scene is buzzing with drama as electronic duo Bassvictim, known for their controversial antics, stirred the pot with some eyebrow-raising comments.

During an Instagram Live session, Bassvictim’s Ike Clateman claimed that daine was desperate for a remix of their track “PQC,” stating that they kept reaching out and increasing their offer. Clateman mentioned, “I just made it in 20 minutes because my management was like, ‘You wanna do it? They’re offering this amount now.'” He even admitted he hadn’t listened to the original track before diving into the remix.

Daine swiftly responded to the video, calling it “poor taste and weird af,” clarifying that their team had simply asked for a remix and that they were not desperate nor did they break the bank for it. In a follow-up post on social media, daine added, “i’m overly nepotistic!” referencing the ongoing debate about their collaboration.

This back-and-forth highlights the intense dynamics within the hyperpop genre, proving that even in the world of upbeat sounds, drama can unfold.
