In a surprising turn of events, Bad Wolves have officially dropped their heavy metal cover of Dolly Parton’s iconic track “Jolene.” This release comes shortly after the departure of guitarist AJ Rebollo, who expressed his concerns over the decision to move forward with the song following Parton’s recent passing.

The band recorded the cover just days after the country legend’s death, with drummer John Boecklin revealing that Parton had initially planned to collaborate on the track. “Our new singer, Sara ‘Killboy’ Skinner, is a huge fan of Dolly and had shared several covers of ‘Jolene,’ which inspired us to create our own version for the upcoming album,” Boecklin explained.

Despite the excitement surrounding the release, Rebollo voiced his discontent on social media, stating that he could no longer support the band’s direction, particularly regarding the release of the cover. He felt it would be perceived as capitalizing on Parton’s death.

In a show of solidarity, former Bad Wolves vocalist Tommy Vext praised Rebollo’s decision, emphasizing the importance of integrity in the music industry. Proceeds from the cover will benefit the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, which provides books to children in need. Fans can now check out Bad Wolves’ rendition of “Jolene” and witness a unique blend of rock and country.
