Veteran musician Steven Hall, known as Nirosta Steel, has recently found himself at the center of a social media storm following the success of his latest album, My Skyscraper. Released on the indie label ULYSSA, the album features recordings spanning four decades, capturing the attention of music lovers everywhere.

However, increased visibility has led to scrutiny. Last week, screenshots surfaced on Twitter/X showing Hall’s activity on the Chinese platform Xiaohongshu, where he allegedly followed several controversial accounts. In light of the backlash, Hall quickly deleted his profile and issued a statement addressing the concerns.

In his message, Hall expressed surprise at the nature of the accounts he followed and clarified that they do not reflect his interests. He acknowledged the misunderstanding and urged fans to consider the factors of ageism and homophobia in the discourse surrounding him.

Despite the controversy, Nirosta Steel is set to perform four shows in New York City from September 10-12 at Night Club 101, followed by festival appearances at Pygmalion, Woodsist, Le Guess Who, and Pitchfork Music Festival Paris. The artist’s upcoming shows reflect his resilience in the face of adversity, showcasing his commitment to connecting with fans through his music.
