In a candid interview, Phil Collins revealed that he came perilously close to death in 2024 due to severe alcohol-related health issues. The Genesis legend spent seven months in the hospital, battling organ failure, and his family even discussed the possibility of switching off his life support machines.
Collins, who has faced significant health challenges in recent years, admitted that his drinking spiraled out of control after he resumed alcohol consumption in 2023, following a previous health scare in 2012. He described waking up and wanting a glass of wine for breakfast, a habit that ultimately led to his hospitalization.
Reflecting on those dark days, Collins shared, “Some decisions were considered…‘Do we keep Phil on life support?’ kind of thing.” He was unaware of the gravity of his situation, as friends and family gathered to say their goodbyes, fearing they might not see him again.
Fortunately, the 75-year-old musician has since regained his health and has committed to sobriety. He expressed gratitude for his recovery, stating, “I was very lucky to have come out of that.” Collins continues to inspire fans with his resilience and dedication to his craft.
