Hansard, who tragically passed away in a motorcycle accident on July 29, was celebrated for his remarkable contributions to music, particularly as the frontman of The Frames and one half of the folk rock duo The Swell Season. During the service, Bono paid tribute by sharing a voicemail from Patti Smith and reciting the lyrics to U2’s classic, “Beautiful Day.” He emphasized Hansard’s unique ability to make everyone feel special, stating, “Everyone who met him, they just remember the day they met him.” Later, Vedder joined Irglová and The Frames to perform Hansard’s poignant track, “The Song of Good Hope,” showcasing the deep bond they shared.
