Yes Unveils New Album ‘Aurora’ with Fresh Sounds and Bold Directions

Prog rock legends Yes have just released their third studio album in five years, titled Aurora. This latest effort marks the conclusion of a trilogy that began with The Quest in 2021 and continued with Mirror To The Sky in 2023. Guitarist Steve Howe and vocalist Jon Davison shared insights into the band’s creative journey, emphasizing that they are far from finished.

Despite nearly 60 years in the music industry, Yes continues to push boundaries. Howe noted, “We wanted to develop more polish and detail, leading to a greater continuity in the music.” The album features contributions from all band members, showcasing a collaborative spirit that remains essential to their sound.

One standout track, Turnaround Situation, has an interesting backstory. Davison humorously recounted how the song originated during a late-night navigation mishap with his wife, who remarked, “This is a turnaround situation.” Instead of helping, he turned the phrase into a catchy melody.

As Yes gears up for their spring 2027 tour, fans can expect a mix of classic hits and new material. With Aurora now available, the band is ready to continue their legacy while exploring new musical territories.
