In a delightful throwback, Stackridge, the quirky Bristol band known for their comedic flair, recently shared their unforgettable experience working with the legendary Beatles producer, George Martin, on their 1974 album, The Man In The Bowler Hat. The band, which rose from the ashes of Griptyte Thynne, found themselves in a dreamlike scenario, recording in the same studio as their idols.

James Warren, a key member of the band, reminisced about the surreal moment when he learned that their album had reached No. 23 on the charts while he was working at a petrol station. “I couldn’t believe it,” he said, reflecting on the journey that took them from performing in local Bristol clubs to collaborating with a music icon.

Stackridge’s eclectic sound, a mix of pop, rock, and humor, has garnered them a dedicated fanbase over the years. Their unique style, reminiscent of The Beatles and the Bonzo Dog Band, has made them a beloved act in the progressive rock scene. Although the band faced challenges, including lineup changes and the impact of the OPEC oil crisis on their album release, their legacy continues to thrive.

As they look back on their Monty Python-esque adventures, Stackridge remains a testament to the magic of creativity and collaboration in music.
