Anneke Van Giersbergen recently shared her thoughts on the overwhelming response to The Gathering’s 30th-anniversary tour for their iconic album, ‘Mandylion.’ In an interview with Michał Choiński during Poland’s Mystic Festival, she expressed her surprise at the nostalgic excitement surrounding the reunion shows.

Initially, the band planned just a couple of shows in Holland to celebrate the milestone. However, tickets sold out almost instantly, leading to an unexpected extension of the tour. “We didn’t expect this to happen,” Anneke said, highlighting the joy of reconnecting with fans and the band after years apart.

The tour kicked off in London on May 19, 2026, and will continue across Europe, North America, and South America, culminating in a headlining performance at Movistar Arena in Santiago, Chile, on October 17. Anneke noted that the positive energy from fans has made the experience incredibly rewarding.

Reflecting on her departure from the band in 2007, she mentioned the initial challenges but emphasized the mutual respect that has developed over time. With no plans for future projects beyond this tour, Anneke is focused on celebrating the legacy of ‘Mandylion’ and enjoying the moment with her bandmates.
