Billy Sheehan Revives David Lee Roth’s ‘Eat ‘Em and Smile’ Era

Billy Sheehan is set to celebrate the 40th anniversary of his iconic work with David Lee Roth on the classic album Eat ‘Em and Smile by releasing new recordings. The bassist has teamed up with friends, including Ray Luzier from Korn, to revisit tracks that were left behind during the original sessions.

Originally released in July 1986, Eat ‘Em and Smile marked Roth’s first solo venture after parting ways with Van Halen. The album featured a powerhouse lineup, including guitarist Steve Vai and drummer Gregg Bissonette, and is remembered for its energetic sound and unforgettable tracks.

Sheehan revealed that they have recorded several songs that were either never completed or almost made it onto the album. While he didn’t confirm specific titles, fans are hopeful that they might hear a fresh take on classics like “Yankee Rose.” He described this new project as a heartfelt tribute to Roth, reflecting on how their collaboration transformed his life.

With the release expected in about a month, Sheehan’s project promises to reignite the spirit of the Eat ‘Em and Smile era, reminding fans of the magic that defined rock music in the ’80s.
