Vardis, the iconic boogie-rock trio from Wakefield, are back in the spotlight with their new retrospective album, 100 M.P.H. ’79 Revisited. Since reuniting in 2014, the band has been busy digging through their archives to bring fans a collection of their earliest demo material.

Originally formed in 1973, Vardis predated the New Wave of British Heavy Metal but embraced the movement when it took off. The new album, released under High Roller Records, features nine tracks on vinyl, with three bonus recordings available on the CD version. Band leader Steve Zodiac expressed excitement about how the recordings turned out, stating, “I’m so impressed with how it came out.”

Despite their resurgence, fans shouldn’t expect any UK shows soon. Zodiac mentioned that logistics play a significant role in their touring plans, and while they have some European dates lined up, the UK remains uncertain for now. “It would be lovely to play, but right now I really don’t know,” he said.

Vardis continues to capture the essence of their early days while also looking forward to new music. With a follow-up to their 2016 album Red Eye in the works, it seems the band is far from done. Keep an eye on Vardis as they celebrate their legacy and forge ahead into the future!
