In a sad turn of events for the music community, Pete Byrne, the iconic frontman of the English new wave band Naked Eyes, has passed away at the age of 74. According to a post on the band’s official website, Byrne died peacefully in Los Angeles on September 14 after a brief illness.

Byrne was best known for his powerful vocals and the band’s massive hits, including the unforgettable 1982 track “Always Something There to Remind Me,” which soared into the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. Alongside his bandmate Rob Fisher, Byrne crafted a sound that captivated audiences, leading to several more hits like “Promises, Promises” and “(What) In The Name Of Love.”

Born in Islington, North London, and raised in Bath, Byrne’s musical journey began in the late 1970s. He initially performed as part of a duo and later with a band called Studio. The formation of Naked Eyes marked a significant milestone in his career, especially after their debut single’s success.

Despite the band’s disbandment in the mid-1980s, Byrne continued to pursue music, even after Fisher’s passing in 1999. He released solo projects and revived Naked Eyes, contributing to the band’s legacy with new albums and tours.

Byrne leaves behind a rich musical legacy and is survived by his siblings and three children. Fans are encouraged to revisit the timeless hits of Naked Eyes as a tribute to this remarkable artist.
