In a recent interview with Australia’s Heavy, Mark Morton, the guitarist for LAMB OF GOD, shared his thoughts on the surprising absence of newer bands that emulate their signature sound. Morton expressed curiosity about why no contemporary acts have attempted to replicate the band’s style outright.

He noted, “It’d be interesting to know. I wish I had a clever answer for you. I stand by that. I feel like it’s surprising.” Morton highlighted that while bands like KILLSWITCH ENGAGE have inspired numerous imitators, he hasn’t seen the same trend with LAMB OF GOD.

Morton acknowledged the influence they have had on younger musicians, stating, “I know that we have influenced a lot of younger bands, ’cause they tell me that. I hear bits and pieces.” He emphasized that while he appreciates the evolution of the genre, he doesn’t feel pressured to conform to current trends.

Reflecting on their latest album, Into Oblivion, which was released in March 2026, Morton mentioned that the band remains true to their roots without feeling the need to chase what’s popular in the industry. The album has received critical acclaim, with various media outlets praising its intensity and relevance.
