Fleetwood Mac’s Tango In The Night: A Wild Journey

Fleetwood Mac’s iconic album, Tango In The Night, released on April 13, 1987, marked a tumultuous chapter in the band’s history. As tensions flared and personal struggles unfolded, this album emerged as a defining moment for the legendary rock group.

During the recording, Mick Fleetwood was caught up in a whirlwind of partying, while Stevie Nicks was largely absent, and Lindsey Buckingham found himself at a crossroads. The album’s production was fraught with drama, including a heated confrontation between Buckingham and Nicks that nearly turned physical.

Despite the chaos, Tango In The Night became a commercial triumph, selling millions of copies and spawning hits like Big Love, Little Lies, and Everywhere. It showcased Buckingham’s creative genius, blending his unique sound with the band’s classic style.

As Fleetwood recalls, the motto was simple: “the show must go on.” And it did, with the band embarking on a successful tour despite Buckingham’s departure. The legacy of Tango In The Night continues to resonate, proving that even in times of turmoil, great art can emerge.
