Alex Lifeson Celebrates Envy Of None’s New Album Stygian Wavs

Alex Lifeson, the legendary guitarist of Rush, is back in the spotlight with his post-Rush project, Envy Of None. Their second album, Stygian Wavs, dropped in March 2025, showcasing a fresh sound that includes the guitar solos Lifeson left out of their debut.

In a recent interview, Lifeson expressed his pride in both his past with Rush and his current work. “I’m super proud of everything Rush accomplished, but it’s what I did. I’ve moved on,” he stated, hinting at the excitement surrounding the new album while possibly alluding to a Rush reunion.

The album features a more collaborative effort among band members, including vocalist Maiah Wynne and bassist Andy Curran. Lifeson noted that the recording process was more connected this time, leading to a sound that feels like a cohesive band effort rather than just a project.

Fans can expect a blend of dark prog-pop and rock elements, with tracks like “Not Dead Yet” and “Under The Stars” showcasing the band’s growth. Lifeson’s commitment to serving the song shines through, as he emphasizes the importance of Wynne’s vocals in shaping their sound.

While there are no immediate plans for live shows, Lifeson hinted that the possibility exists if schedules align. For now, Envy Of None is focused on making music that stands on its own, free from the shadows of their past.
