Devo Focuses on Touring Instead of New Music

Devo, the iconic new wave band, has not released a studio album since 2010’s Something for Everybody, and it seems fans will have to wait a bit longer for new music. Co-founder Gerald Casale recently opened up about the band’s current focus on touring rather than recording new tracks.

Devo is currently on the road, performing alongside the B-52’s for their Cosmic De-Evolution tour, which kicks off on September 17 in Tinley Park, Illinois. Before that, they’ll be sharing the stage with Billy Idol starting August 7 in Scranton, Pennsylvania. This tour has been a hit with fans across generations, with Casale humorously noting that they’ve become the ‘new wave Grateful Dead.’

While new music isn’t in the cards for Devo at the moment, Casale is working on his solo project, Wetiko, set to release in October. The album explores deep themes about Western culture and features contributions from fellow Devo members and other notable musicians. The first single, ‘Just Do It!’, is described as a ‘finger-snapping ditty for fascist America,’ showcasing Casale’s unique perspective on current events.

As Devo continues to captivate audiences with their live performances, fans can look forward to the upcoming solo release from Casale while enjoying the band’s classic hits on tour.
