In a thrilling announcement, Sony Music Vision has revealed that the legendary concert film “Queen Budapest” will hit cinemas and IMAX screens worldwide starting October 7. This marks the 40th anniversary of Queen’s groundbreaking performance at Budapest’s Népstadion, where they became the first Western rock band to perform behind the Iron Curtain.

Originally captured on July 27, 1986, this concert was a pivotal moment in both music and cultural history. With 80,000 tickets sold and an additional 45,000 fans outside, the event showcased Queen at their peak, featuring iconic hits like “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “We Will Rock You,” and “Under Pressure.” The newly restored 4K footage promises to deliver an immersive experience, thanks to the meticulous work of Sir Peter Jackson’s Park Road Post Production.

Brian May reflected on the significance of the concert, stating, “It felt like a very big deal — you could feel that incredible energy.” This restoration not only revives the visuals but enhances the audio, ensuring fans experience the magic as if they were there. The film will also be available in a multi-format package, including a newly remixed soundtrack, on October 30.
