Rush Focuses on Live Performances, Not New Music

In a recent interview, Geddy Lee of Rush shared insights into the band’s current focus, emphasizing that they are not considering new music at this time. After an extensive 14-month rehearsal period, Lee and guitarist Alex Lifeson are concentrating on delivering a stellar live performance with new drummer Anika Nilles and keyboardist Loren Gold.

Lee noted that the rigorous rehearsal schedule was necessary to prepare for their upcoming shows, which included playing a full set 24 times in just 27 days. He expressed pride in the hard work everyone put in, especially Nilles, who had the daunting task of learning 43 complex songs to replace the late Neil Peart.

Despite the challenges, Lee remains enthusiastic about the chemistry among the band members. He reassured Nilles and Gold that mistakes are part of the process, encouraging them to focus on recovery rather than perfection. As for new music, Lee stated firmly, “No. We have enough to do. We’re still trying to remember the old songs and play them!”
