Nikki Sixx, the iconic bassist of Motley Crue, recently shared his thoughts on the band’s recording approach, suggesting that full-length albums may be a thing of the past. In a candid interview, Sixx expressed his preference for releasing individual songs rather than committing to the extensive process of creating an entire album.

Sixx explained that the workload involved in crafting an LP is substantial, stating, “If you’re doing 10 songs … you gotta write 20. And you better hope five of them are stellar.” He emphasized the changing landscape of music consumption, noting that listeners often only focus on one standout track, leaving many others unheard.

With their latest release, the 2024 EP titled Cancelled, featuring guitarist John 5, Sixx believes this new strategy allows for a more spontaneous and impactful connection with fans. He described the process as capturing moments of inspiration, saying, “Whenever something comes up, you feel something – heartbreak, joy, rebellion – let’s write a song about it and let’s go cut it in the studio.”

This shift reflects a broader trend in the music industry, where streaming has altered how artists engage with their audience. As Motley Crue continues to evolve, fans can expect more standalone tracks that resonate with the band’s dynamic spirit.
