In a shocking turn of events, Norwegian black metal band Abbath faced yet another live performance setback as frontman Abbath Doom Occulta abruptly left the stage after just two minutes during their set at the SaariHelvetti Festival in Tampere, Finland. The band had just launched into their track “To War” when the vocalist, noticeably without his iconic corpse paint or costume, exited the performance.
Drummer Ukri Suvilehto addressed the audience, expressing regret for the interruption and revealing that Abbath is currently grappling with health issues. He stated, “Let’s just say that it probably won’t come as a surprise to anyone that our lead singer is struggling with health problems, so we’re very sorry if this gig has been interrupted.” Suvilehto reassured fans that the band is prepared for any situation and thanked them for their understanding.
This incident is not an isolated occurrence for Abbath. The band previously canceled a show in Argentina in 2019 after just two songs, also attributed to Abbath’s ongoing health challenges, which he has openly discussed in relation to his battle with addiction. After entering rehab, he expressed a renewed commitment to his health.
As Abbath continues to navigate these personal challenges, fans are left hoping for a swift return to form for the band.
