Oasis Brothers Concerned Over Upcoming Auction of Rare Tapes

In a surprising turn of events, Oasis members Noel and Liam Gallagher have expressed their discontent regarding an upcoming auction of a rare collection of recordings valued at over one million pounds. The auction, set for October 3, features a treasure trove of 63 concert recordings, more than 100 hours of rehearsal tapes, and candid conversations between the band members.

The collection, owned by former sound engineer Huw Richards, includes 209 DAT tapes, 73 analogue cassettes, and three MiniDiscs. Richards’ son, Owain, is responsible for putting this extensive archive on the auction block, which is expected to fetch between £1.2m and £1.6m.

Ben Homer, managing director of Littleton Auctions, confirmed that the Gallagher brothers have raised concerns about the sale, emphasizing the importance of the material. “Oasis remains one of the most beloved bands in British music history,” he stated, highlighting the significance of this once-in-a-generation opportunity for fans and collectors.

Owain Richards, who has cherished these recordings for two decades, noted that his father meticulously labeled and preserved everything. He suggested that the Gallaghers are keen on retrieving the tapes, stating, “They don’t want these tapes to be sold… They want them back in their possession.”
