Nicko McBrain Open to Recording with Iron Maiden Again

In a recent interview, Iron Maiden’s legendary drummer Nicko McBrain expressed his enthusiasm for potentially recording with the band again, despite stepping back from live performances due to health issues. The 74-year-old drummer, who has been a part of Maiden since 1982, retired from touring in December 2024 after suffering a mini-stroke in January 2023.

While McBrain has been replaced on stage by Simon Dawson, he remains the band’s official drummer. He stated, “If Iron Maiden went into the studio, I’d be delighted to get back on with them, but it’d have to be something more simple really.” He mentioned his desire to play songs reminiscent of the anthems like “Stranger In A Strange Land” and “Wasted Years” from the iconic album Somewhere In Time.

McBrain’s resilience has not gone unnoticed; Iron Maiden’s frontman Bruce Dickinson praised him for continuing to tour despite his challenges. As McBrain gears up for the release of his autobiography, Hello Boys And Girls, on October 22, fans are eager to see what the future holds for this rock icon.
