Slipknot is back in the studio, and this time they’re teaming up with renowned producer Matt Wallace, known for his work with Faith No More. Guitarist Jim Root recently shared that the band is brimming with creativity, having already amassed “at least 50” song ideas for their upcoming eighth studio album.
In a candid interview on the RIDE BYND podcast, Root described the jamming sessions as both exhilarating and organic. “We’ll jam for like an hour and a half, two hours, and we might get four song ideas out of that,” he explained. The process feels fresh and invigorating, pushing the boundaries of what Slipknot can create.
Root expressed excitement over the diverse musical directions they are exploring, hinting at everything from fast-paced grind riffs to melodic, doomy interludes. He noted that the new material is unlike anything he’s heard before, yet it retains a familiar essence that feels timeless.
After closing their record deal with Roadrunner following the release of 2022’s The End, So Far, Slipknot is now free agents, ready to carve out their next chapter. Fans can expect a thrilling evolution in their sound as they work on this highly anticipated project.
